Qigong & Qi Healing, The Foundations of Chinese Medicine

Qigong (pronounced “chee kung”) means “life energy practice.” It is an ancient Chinese way of cultivating and balancing the body’s Qi (~ energy) with techniques that blend mind, breath and body postures or movements. It is the ultimate self-aid method to maximize the functions of the spirit, mind and body. In use for several thousand years, the art of qigong is one of the planet’s true legacies and treasures.

Qigong is easy to learn and to practice. The practice consists of internal meditative techniques and special movement exercises. These can benefit people of all ages and physical abilities. Qigong is practiced to restore and maintain health, promote longevity, quiet the mind, increase energy, decrease stress, integrate the spirit-mind-body, and prevent or treat illness. It is a natural and simple tool to balance body energy so that life can be experienced to its full potential.

Qi healing (also called medical qigong) is an external form of qigong. As the basis of classical Chinese medicine (acupuncture, Chinese herbology, and tuina), it is the art of locating and correcting imbalances in the flow of Qi that may occur in someone else’s energy circulation. With special training, a person can learn to sense and transmit Qi, locate disturbances in the flow of Qi in another person, and help to correct these imbalances. Qi healing facilitates the healing process through the restoration of balance and flow of Qi. Another aspect of Qi healing is the prescription and teaching of specific meditations and qigong exercises to assist those in need.
